Egyptian Gallery: Art
The artists of ancient Egypt worked in many mediums; stone, plaster, wood, and ceramic. Examples of all of these materials are presented in a discussion of the technique of the ancient artists. Large-scale examples of sculpture are also exhibited; a granite head of the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet, and a limestone statue of the god Amun. Large fragments of painted plaster floors and walls, now mounted on the wall of the gallery, date to the New Kingdom (ca. 1350 B.C.). Representations of gods are exhibited across the gallery, including a large stone statue of the falcon god Horus.Detailed List of Artifacts on Exhibit
